When you are traveling across the cities of India, it is hard not to notice its attractions. Whatever century or year its historical and cultural sights are dated, they all have gigantic sizes. If it is a palace then it will occupy at least a quarter of the city, but if it is a garden...no limit whatsoever. This ancient Indian tradition still survives to our day, and the biggest park of the country, located in the vicinity of Kolkata, certifies that.
The New Town Eco Park with an area of 190 hectares, its pool and island, was open in 2012 and comprises several themed sections.
The famous Sabujsathi Island in the center of an enormous 42-hectares lake is covered with perfect green lawns and paved pathways. Here one of the main sights of the park is located – the glasshouse which regularly hosts family holidays, ordinary and corporate parties. It is surrounded by 12 comfortable cottages and a coffee house. You can reach the place by boats only, and boating across the gigantic lake is a great pleasure the visitors of the park can indulge in. Fast motorboats aren’t the only water transport and entertainment on the lake. There are canoes, kayaks and even a thrill ride – zorbing. The picturesque waterfront with a palm tree alley is spread across all the shore of the wonderful lake where musical fountains perform a stunning laser show every evening.
The fans of the diversified Indian flora will see value in themed gardens: tropical, bamboo, fruit, and rose one with fantastic sculptures, a butterfly garden, a small tea plantation, and a pond with magnificent lotuses. And the admirers of historical architectural monuments will be delighted to see exact scale models of Egyptian pyramids and the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal and the Colosseum, the ancient city of Petra and the Eiffel Tower. Besides, the territory of the Eco Park hosts a gallery of Indian masks and a luxurious amphitheater that can sit 2 000 spectators.
