The cartoons of the legendary Hayao Miyazaki have long been an international treasure, going beyond the borders of Japan. His works are loved and appreciated all over the world. And a visit to the museum of the famous Ghibli Studio is a dream for millions of people in different countries.
What's interesting about this museum and why tickets to it are worth buying a few weeks before your intended visit?
First, it is a mecca for those who love anime. Here you can see all of your favorite cartoon characters, see almost human-sized sets of cartoons, and spend time watching short films about how your favorite anime tapes are made.
Second, the Ghibli Museum combines three seemingly incongruous components: a children's museum, a modern technology museum, and an art gallery.
Children spend a huge amount of time looking at their favorite characters, running around in the beautiful scenery, looking for traces of strange animals and exits from secret passages and mazes.
Those who are older especially like the exhibitions of paintings and drawings, which show the process of cartoon creation. There are also works by the famous Russian cartoonist Yuri Norstein, author of the famous animated film «Hedgehog in the Fog», which Miyazaki likes very much.
As for the technological component, much has been done here using modern computer and hardware capabilities, which makes visiting the museum magical. For example, lanterns that light up from a spell, or the eyes of a huge cat that follow the visitor. Also, you can see how a full-length cartoon is made: from the origin of an idea, through character sketching to the final editing. Traveling through the museum, you can see all these stages of the birth of a masterpiece.
Important point: it is strictly forbidden to take photos on the territory of the museum. And if you want not only memories but also some material evidence from your visit to Studio Ghibli, there is a shop where you can buy cute souvenirs on the territory of the museum.
