An Australian winery named Tamburlaine Organic Wines was founded in 1966. Almost 20 years later, it was owned by a group of relatives and friends who breathed new life into it. Mark Davidson became its new managing director and head winemaker. He greatly contributed to the establishment and development of the company.
The winery was named after the play «Tamburlaine the Great» by English poet and playwright Christopher Marlowe. Just as the main character of the play fought against the limitless and destructive power of kings, so did Mark Davidson oppose traditional methods of wine production that were harmful to the environment. He had a special attitude toward farming that developed into an entire company philosophy. After years of research, development, trial, and error, Tamburlaine Organic Wines succeeded and became one of the largest organic wine producers in the Hunter Valley.
The key to soil health and fertility is organic farming based on sustainability principles. For decades, Tamburlaine Organic Wines is strictly committed to this rule. Non-natural substances do not harm local vineyards, so they preserve their natural health and are always green. Besides, special certifications, earned by the company's hard work, guarantee a total absence of herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, and synthetic fertilizers in wine production.
The company has not limited itself to a responsible attitude toward the soil and the vine. The winery operates an Environment Management System. It helps recycle solid waste and monitor the consumption of water resources and electricity generated by solar panels installed on the roof of the local warehouse. Moreover, old grape stems are also recycled and turned into organic fertilizer, and even water is purified with special bacteria and reused.
Tamburlaine Organic Wines is a wonderful place not only for adherents of ecology and organics but also for aesthetes. The winery is located in a paradise next to the forest, surrounded by spacious fields and picturesque hills, where it is so pleasant to spend time in solitude.
