Not far from Valmiera, there is a manor where Valmiermuiza beer has been produced for years. There is a brewery itself, a restaurant with dishes of malt and beer, a beer yard, and a bar with varieties of a foamy drink.
Valmiermuiza Craft Brewery holds tours very popular among tourists because Latvia is a long-standing producer of drinks, and excursions are fascinating. It is hardly possible to see something like this anywhere else!
You should inform about your visit in advance, two weeks before, because the tour will be conducted not by a professional guide but by workers themselves. They trot around and tell about the principles of slow brewing. It is a gradual, unhurried mixing of ingredients that need time for natural fermentation. During the tour, you can see the whole process and even try a fresh beer, feel its taste and smell, and learn what the difference is from an aged drink. In a word, the technology is simple and exciting even for those who consider beer untasty and valueless.
A feature of the Valmiermuiza Brewery is the beer yard for preparing unique dishes with beer. Don’t worry about drunkenness because the alcohol vapour quickly evaporates, but the dish taste changes unexpectedly. The food is usually cooked with traditional Latvian products, and home-made beer and various greens are used as a spicy flavouring. A particular feature of the courtyard is that each dish has a specifically selected type of beer. Food and drink complement each other and open up the taste at most.
After visiting the brewery, you can obtain traditional magnets shaped like beer mugs and bottles, different salty cookies with hemp seeds, malt caramel, and even dark chocolate with hemp.
