They died out millions of years ago, but they still terrify and interest. Giant or smaller than a toy terrier, cute herbivores, or creepy-looking predators…Now you can only see dinosaurs in movies and in the Dinosaur Park, near Mbombela.
You enter the park, walk a few meters, and suddenly, you meet a Tyrannosaurus Rex face to face in the dense jungle! It's time to scream...with delight. After all, this is an amazing life-size dinosaur model. You feel like a child in the park, looking at the statues and stuffed animals of ancient times. In addition to the Tyrannosaurus, there are models of prehistoric amphibians, reptiles, and prehistoric mammals. There is even a place for a man among all this company. The museum recreated in detail the sites of ancient people. By the way, the remains of an ancient man were discovered in the park area. You can find out from the guide more about each exhibit in the park museum.
The park is beautiful not only because of the numerous dinosaurs that hide under every bush in the rainforest but also because of this very forest. It also becomes part of the performance, taking us back to the age of the dinosaurs. However, instead of pterodactyls, there are only red-breasted cuckoos and monkeys in the forest. The park admires not only from the inside, but also from above. There is a comfortable observation deck. If you look closely, you can even see the villages of local tribes somewhere beyond the park.
Dinosaurs re-settled in South Africa in 1972. Theo Owen brought them here. He created the first models, first showing them in Johannesburg, and then decided to bring the whole company together in one place. The park still bears his name.
Visiting the Dinosaur Park in Mbombela is like going back to childhood when you are flipping through an encyclopedia with burning eyes! Just many times more emotional!
