In the past, the state of Afghanistan had a dubious reputation as a tourist destination, but recently it has begun to revive again. Tourists have gained the opportunity to explore this amazing, ancient state, that is so different from other countries in the world. Here is a completely different unforgettable atmosphere innate to these proud people, whose rich history and amazing culture goes back to the third millennium BC. Unfortunately, as a result of numerous wars and devastating destruction, only a few historical and cultural monuments have survived to this day. But tourists from all over the world are attracted to these lands not by human handiwork, but by the fascinating beauty of the local mountains and valleys created by nature, as well as the national parks of Afghanistan, the first of which was the world-famous Band-e Amir National Park.
Band-e Amir National Park is located in the heart of the state just a few kilometers from the ancient city of Bamyan. Six admirable colorful lakes at an altitude of 3000 meters are annually filled with crystal clear water from melted mountain glaciers, and gray-purple travertine rocks give them a unique aquamarine color.
The largest and deepest of them is the beautiful Bandi-Zulfagor lake, the depth of which is more than 150 meters. The only small local bazaar in these lands can be found near Band-e Haibat. Here you can taste the popular wheat tortillas chapati and naan prepared in tandoor. But you can't find fish here, for some reason the Afghans don't eat it, although the park lakes are full of a variety of fauna, including a large yellow fish called chush.
Only here, in the picturesque Hindu Kush mountains, you can meet snow finches - small songbirds, whose voices fill the fabulous nature of these places like wondrous music. Small agile birds are not the only inhabitants of Band-e Amir. It is home to several species of mountain goats, as well as predators such as wolves and foxes.
