Ratargul Swamp Forest

Sylhet in Bangladesh is famous for its nature. People from all over the country and all over the world gather there to admire evergreen forests, stormy rivers, steep mountains, to meditate and relax.

One of such places is Ratargul Swamp Forest. It is only 20 kilometers away from the city. You can get there by rickshaw in no time, exploring the surroundings along the way.

Early in the morning, you get into a long wooden boat, as it is the only way to travel there, push away from the shore and the journey into the natural world begins. The water around you reflects the incredible sky and plants of all shades of green. It is as if they merge with the river. On the surface, you can see the traces of snakes that have just floated by. You hear birds singing somewhere in the depths. Trees grow right out of the water, and funny monkeys leap over them. There are about 70 species of plants and a variety of animals. Herons, swans, eagles and parrots, and in winter, vultures will accompany you almost the entire journey.

The forest is located on a river and covers an area of 3,000 acres. If you think there is a lot of water, do not come here during the rainy season. During this period, the forest practically turns into Atlantis and goes under the water for a few more meters.

You will not even notice how you dissolve in this silence and calmness. So, quietly, the boat will begin to stop. The noise of the waterfall, which is flowing down from the high mountains, will take you out of a small trance. 

The forest is especially beautiful at dawn and in the evening. Its beauty is impressive and fascinating. You will return to your hotel, rested and renewed. A walk through the Ratargul Forest will remain in your memory for many years.
