In 1997, the first International Sculpture Exhibition was held in Changchun. Many talented authors brought their works to the exhibition. Some of them gave the sculptures to the city and placed them in one of the museums. Every year, the story was repeated: thanks to the international exhibition, more and more beautiful, unusual, luxurious, and frankly strange sculptures of modern authors appeared in Changchun. The museums and storages began to overflow. Then it was decided to create a unique project – Changchun World Sculpture Park, which has no analogs not only in China but all over the world.
The park welcomed its first guests in 2001. And surprised everyone with its splendor and variety of interesting places. Firstly, the Chinese architects with great attention and awe organized the entire space of the park, which is about 12,000 square meters. Lakes and small waterfalls were created, paths were laid and neat pavilions and tea-houses were built. There are cozy corners for relaxation with benches and tables, and special places for taking pictures.
Secondly, there are a lot of sculptures in the park. Looking at them, you can endlessly wonder and admire the creative ideas of sculptors, their different techniques, and completely different perception of beauty.
Thirdly, a really huge museum was opened in the World Sculpture Park. It contains those items that can't be exhibited outdoors. The museum's collection is so large that even a brief visit can take at least two or three hours.
Also, this park has a scientific community. It studies the culture and traditions of its native city and country, as well as those of other countries around the world, based on sculpture, which reflects the worldview of people.
It is incredibly interesting to walk in the park. The sculptures are arranged in such a way that some of them are opened to the guests immediately, and some as if coming out of the lush bushes, making a kind of interactivity. You lose track of time here, so it's better to spend a whole day exploring this cultural place.
