Unusual places

Skyscrapers, cars, technologies, tabloids, and flashing screens of huge TVs – that’s the city of the future, Shanghai. Like almost any other city in Tianxia, Shanghai was developing rapidly. So now it is one of the largest economic, commercial, and industrial centers in the world. But formal suits, billions-worth deals, and cutting-edge computers don’t prevent hardworking Chinese to sometimes go to the countryside to meditate, relax and boost energy for the next work cycle.

Shanghai is one of the cities in China that stun you with combinations of nature and progress, thousand-year-old temples and modern skyscrapers. In the suburbs of Shanghai, there is one of the examples of such unique contrast, the Sheshan mountain. When you come here, all problems, fears, and anxieties fade away. As if you enter a huge temple of nature, where meditative music plays softly, and everything is made to help you relax and fill yourself with energy.

You leave the bus, make just a few steps on a well-equipped trail, look around, and get transfixed. Mountains covered in fog, thickets of bamboo forests – it seems that you haven’t seen anything more beautiful than that. Somewhere above, there are temples, monasteries, and basilicas. More to come.

The Sheshan mountain is home to numerous parks and cultural attractions. Here, you can visit a place where the masterpieces of Chinese literature were created, the place of power for famous literary figures of Tianxia. You can pay a visit to the Tianmashan Park, the shape of which reminds a huge horse, stop by a Catholic basilica in the Gothic style, or pop in the local observatory.

After you have a rest, enjoy the fresh air, and recover yourself from the knockout beauty of the landscape, try the local delicacies: honey peaches, blue tea, bamboo or orchid shoots. You can buy them as a souvenir, by the way. And start steeling yourself for the return into the noisy, always bustling city of the future – Shanghai.

A trip to the Sheshan mountain will help you form a completely different, unusual viewpoint on China, as a country where nature is in the limelight in the life of the society.
