People standing on their heads, jumping several meters high, doing all kinds of splits, bending in all directions parallelly making deadly strikes and screaming «kia!». These are the associations of Shaolin monks which almost everyone has. There are a thousand and one stereotypes, hundreds of legends and dozens of films about that place. Anyway, everyone heard about the Shaolin monastery in Zhengzhou.

The legendary monastery is located at the foot of Mount Song. The majestic mountain covered with a haze of fog is 62 kilometers away from the city. Despite the distance and the monastery localization, the flow of tourists is steady. Everyone dreams of at least taking a look at the legendary temple, a pagoda and monks wearing orange robes. Not to mention the desire to get all the knowledge, world secrets and kungfu skills. Just think of it! Shaolin appeared at the end of the 5th century, and during all these years it has been one of the most mysterious and attractive places among tourists.

Shaolin impresses with its meditative calmness, concentration and, of course, the surrounding nature. By the way, getting in unity with nature is one of the practices which is studied by monks. You should definitely visit the pagoda where all the most famous monks are buried. It is located afar, but getting there is worth the distance.

When you come to Shaolin you understand that all the mystery is concentrated not in the place, but in people, their knowledge and striving. Tourists can peacefully view all the halls of the monastery, go through all its rooms, but they must behave appropriately.

You should show your respect to the calm atmosphere of the Shaolin Monastery. You are in a sacred place, so it is prohibited to speak loudly, laugh, touch everything and make photo sessions there. By the way, it is better to ask about taking photos in advance. Taking a photo of a statue or an interior detail is only possible with the permission of your attendant.
