Thanks to the efforts of local officials, it is now possible to take a short journey back in time near Bangalore. The portal is situated in a small rural building a few kilometers from Bangalore.
Leaving behind the impressive gates of the Janapada Loka Museum, you find yourself in 15 acres of history, tradition, and folklore of the Indian state of Karnataka.
Be careful, this time travel may shock you. Throughout the museum, both in the building and outdoors, there are full-size human figures dressed in colorful costumes and scary masks.
First of all, go inside the building. Learn all about the life of the state tens and hundreds of years ago. Imagine a woman in a bright blue sari with a dot on her forehead making a jug out of clay or scooping water using buffaloes, for example. And only then go outside to see how it really was.
Behind massive wooden doors on the ground floor of the two-story museum building, there are many dolls and various sculptures in bright, traditional outfits. They seem to freeze in a strange dance. Next, there are only masks and painted costumes along with weapons and details of an antique chariot. Here you will see the tools that ancient residents used to build houses, repair, and make dishes. Some of them look more like terrible weapons than the tools needed on the farm.
On the first floor, there are also household items: toys, kitchen utensils, and even a restored bunker where grain and other products were stored.
It's time to go outside. There you get the impression that you have entered a tropical forest: exotic plants, fragrant flowers, birdsongs. Through the leaves, you can see people cooking, sewing, and dancing. In fact, this is all an exhibition of a museum, and these people are exhibits that reproduce scenes from real life.
