Tokyo Skytree is a new symbol of Japan. This is the tallest television broadcasting tower not only in the Land of the Rising Sun but also in the whole world. It also is the second tallest building after the greatest Dubai skyscraper Burj Khalifa. A visit to Tokyo Skytree is a must for any trip to the capital of Japan. Here you can not only enjoy spectacular views of Tokyo but also go shopping or visit other sightseeings located on the territory of the tower.
Construction of Tokyo Skytree began in July 2008 and lasted about four years. The official opening of the tower was on May 22, 2012. Its appearance was associated with the complete transition of Japan to a digital broadcasting format. Tokyo Skytree's predecessor, the Tokyo Television Tower, built in the middle of the last century, would not have been able to cope with this task due to its insufficient height.
The new tower was designed by architect Tadao Ando and sculptor Kiichi Sumikawa. Its height, together with the spire, is 634 meters. Its appearance reflects both modern neo-futurist elements and traditional Japanese aesthetics. According to the authors, who were inspired by the unique beauty of their country, Tokyo Skytree should resemble the graceful curve of a samurai sword and elevated multi-tiered pagodas. Whether they managed to implement their plans – judge for yourself.
There are two observation decks for visitors at the top of the tower – Tembo Deck and Tembo Galleria. The first one is located at an altitude of 350 meters, and the second – 445-450 meters. In fact, Tembo Galleria is a glazed corridor in the form of a spiral, which begins at Tembo Deck and leads to the highest observation point of Tokyo Skytree. During the day, you can see the famous Mount Fuji, and in the evening – admire the shimmering beautiful lights of the streets of Tokyo.
In addition to the observation decks at the top of the tower, there is a chic fusion restaurant with a creative atmosphere and international cuisine, where you can try a variety of dishes. Moreover, on the lower floors of Tokyo Skytree, visitors will find a lot of entertainment in the local shopping center, aquarium, and planetarium.
