Kuala Lumpur is a very green city as such. Here, extremely tall skyscrapers of glass and concrete intermingle perfectly with parks, garden squares, and small woods right in the middle of the city or on the floors of the same skyscrapers. Thanks to countless trees, it is very calm and easy to breathe in the city.
But there is a place here that will truly relax you: the Perdana Botanical Garden. It is located behind a huge stone wall. The park territory is immense, and the only invariant thing that the Perdana Botanical Garden has is its name. However, it is subdivided into many smaller, rather diverse parks: bird, butterfly, orchid, deer ones, and even the Malaysian Stonehenge replica. Some places are full of people, but others are so peaceful and quiet that it seems that the only foot that steps here is the gardener’s.
Passing through a net and going down some regular steps, you get to the bird park, one of the most colorful and memorable parts of the botanical garden. You will have to buy a ticket to come inside. The rest of the park is free. A few meters away from the entrance, a peacock welcomes you in the bird park with its blue-green tail. They wander here quite calmly but still prefer keeping at a distance from people. The landscape is designed to make you feel that you are in a park in some spots while seeing the cages with some species of birds, and then you can suddenly find yourself in a forest. From the right of you comes the sound of a stream. Just look around to see it, a stream with a heron fishing. Watch the process, shifting from foot to foot. Wow, here you are, back in the real world.
Birds here don’t always mind the park visitors, so a pelican may land very close to you, aggressively asking to move out of the way.
In this park, you get back to your childhood perspective of the world. Especially when a multi-colored parrot sits on your arm, and the caretaker gives it food, or when small blue birds rush under your feet with an incredible speed, while you are trying to grasp who they are.
