Love Valley in Cappadocia

It’s hard to imagine a more erotic place than Love Valley in Cappadocia, especially considering that it was created by nature that doesn’t have an ounce of vulgarity. The wind itself carved those symbols of passion, underground waters fed them and protected them from destruction, and people gave this place its name. Not the one that can be heard from modern youths but the one that was immortalised by artists on their canvas, by poets on pages of books and by lovers in their hearts. Therefore, people can joke all they want about the shape of stone giants, but Love Valley becomes increasingly more popular every year, and such beauty cannot be found anywhere else in Turkey.

It is located only 4 kilometres outside of the small town of Goreme. It’s not hard to access the magical place, a road wide enough even for a tourist bus leads right to it. According to some sources, many centuries ago there was a lake with underwater rocks peaking above the surface. Over time, it has become shallow and then ran dry leaving behind lean stone towers. The part that looks like a mushroom cap from one angle, and manhood from another, has always been on the surface, therefore, remained untouched. That theory would have explained everything if it wasn’t for the towers’ different heights, which again makes one ponder – who created those natural wonders? and why in Cappadocia?

There are many opinions on this topic. Some tend to attribute them to aliens, others believe that it was a group effort of Cappadocia’s residents to attract more tourists. Either way, Love Valley is wonderful and it definitely deserves a spot on everyone’s bucket list. Whether to admire unusual rocks from the ground or while flying over them on a hot air balloon – it’s up to the travellers to decide.
