Ancient Greek women who hated men were born by Goddess Harmonia and God of War Ares. They established a womanish state which was headed by their militant queen. They went on military campaigns to other countries. According to ancient myths, amazons were those who founded such cities as Ephesus and Smyrna. According to some historians, the first womanish state was founded on the territory of the modern Turkish city of Samsun. Long ago, the fearless warrior women went to help Trojans from that place. The fact that amazons are characters from Greek mythology and that Samsun is a Turkish territory do not contradict history. The modern city was established by ancient Greeks back in the 6th century BC. It became Turkish only in the 15th century. Moreover, there was founded a mass grave of women.
The history of the warrior tribe of the Amazons goes to the remote past. Nowadays, Istanbul houses a thematic park which is devoted to those brave warrior women. In the very center of the park, there is a huge statue of an Amazon. Its height is more than 12 meters. On its pedestal, you can see a bas-relief with an image of a battle. The whole construction occupies an area of more than 15 square meters, and its weight is about 6 tons. On both sides of the statue, there are big sculptures of lions, each of which reaches a length of 24 meters and a height of 11 meters. Inside the Anatolian lions, you will find small expositions of wax figures which demonstrate scenes from the life and war battles of the amazing Amazons. In total, there are more than 20 various expositions on the territory of the park. You will see the Amazons relaxing after a battle in tents, the Amazons honing their skills in archery, and the Amazons being busy with everyday domestic deals. You will also find figures of men waiting for their death in prisons. The thematic park called «Amazon Heykeli» is a kind of tribute of the city to the women warriors and Samsun historical heritage in general.
