Almost every country has museums dedicated to the Second World War. Australia is no exception. The city of Darwin has a rich Military Museum, which will be interesting not only for those who are interested in military history but also for ordinary tourists who want to learn more about Australia and especially about the city of Darwin.

Initially, the Darwin Military Museum was created by the Royal Australian Artillery Association to present a small collection of artifacts related to the Second World War. Gradually the exhibition increased. So today the museum has a huge number of items related to the navy, army, and air forces of not only Australia and the United States, but also other allied countries.

It is noteworthy that on the territory of the museum there are real fortifications that served as protection of buildings during the war. They formed the basis of the museum. In the 1960s, the remaining parts of the East Point defenses became the starting point for the museum. Then guns were added to the exhibition, some of which were brought to the museum from other parts of the city. At first, it was planned to leave them in their former places. But vandals often painted them and recaptured parts, so it was decided to move them to preserve military artifacts.

The museum's collection is currently being updated. It is expanded by finding and recovering weapons, vehicles, and other war-related historical items.

For a long time, the Darwin Military Museum was open only on weekends. But now, thanks to the support of the state and volunteers, it is open to the public every day. Therefore, if you plan to visit Darwin, take a trip to the Military Museum, it is worth it.
