Unusual places

It is the smallest island in the world where you can find everything you need for the life - a court, a church, a Community Hall, a dispensary, a library with a post office in one building. All this is located on one square and one main street.

This city is an island, about which people usually say: “You can see everything in a few hours”. Yes, you can see everything, but, first, you have to get there. Adamstown is one of the places hard to reach. And when you come there, you need to gain an understanding of its history. A such number of events is not typical for even a large European city.

All the sights of the town are connected with the history of the rebels from the Bounty ship. It tells about love, passion, and the struggle for this love.

It all started in 1781 when the British ship Bounty anchored on the board of Tahiti. The sailors fell in love with the beauty and sexuality of the local girls and refused to come back. The captain assistant Fletcher Christian rebelled and went to the island of Pitcairn with other sailors being in love. They took several Polynesians with them, offering a night with a Tahitian girl for slave labor.

At first everyone was happy, but once the Christian's wife fell from a cliff. The man went to the Polynesians to ask for the given Tahitian woman, but they did not want to share their reward so simply. So, the rebellion begins - the British against the Polynesians. Only one person survived, that was John Adams. In honor of him, people named the city.

This is a true story every citizen of Adamstown can tell you because the descendants of those rebels still live there. They tell about and even show the anchor and the military weapons of the “Bounty” ship, which wrecked close to the island,

walking through the entire island, come to the cliff with a gorgeous view on the Bounty Bay! It is a very picturesque place!
