Life today reminds one of the Olympic sprinter race or even the spaceship launch. But all of us sometimes want to escape from reality to the distant past where nobody hurried, where people worked in factories and went to the city park on weekends to drink a glass of lemonade from an automat or eat a cube of delicious ice cream. The fewer become such places on Earth, the more valuable they become every day.
The Park of Culture and Rest in Novopolotsk is the place where you start believing in time machines while walking along the shady alleys of aged trees. At least, you start to believe that it is actually possible to take it slow, even nowadays. The park opened for the first time in 1967 and, since then, has remained a favorite resting-place of both citizens and all guests of Novopolotsk.
An area of 23 hectares combines modern infrastructure and attractions of Soviet times. On the one hand, picturesque landscapes are equipped with cutting-edge jogging and cycling paths. There is a spacious volleyball ground court for team sports lovers and a shooting range with a rich prize fund for those who want to test themselves in accuracy and luck. On the other hand, all amusement rides in the park can be called with a retro- prefix. Here are the beloved Romashka, Yunga, and Veselye Gorki.
The special pride of the park is a modern sports ground, where you can lift weights and lighten your mood. Moreover, it is common knowledge that nine of ten famous Belarusian athletes grew up in Novopolotsk training on the same field in their native park.
