Borisova Gradina Park

The oldest and the most famous park in Sofia, located in the center of the city, is Borisova Gradina Park. Locals call it simply, "Boris Garden”. An island of greenery in the center of a bustling city attracts tourists and citizens. Its overgrown trees, giving a dense and desirable shade in the heat, fragrant flower beds, miniature shrubs are a sight that makes an indelible impression.

The park is named after Tsar Boris III, who ruled until 1943. Although the history of the park goes much deeper, starting in 1884.

The park has playgrounds, and in summer there are entertainment events and rides. On the territory, there are bike tracks and tennis courts, many benches and a small fountain. In the depths of the park, you can find a little overgrown, but still, a picturesque lake with turtles. There are cafes and souvenir shops at the entrance. Walking along the picturesque lemon alleys, try to find a decorative wooden house hidden in the thick of trees. This is the work of a self-taught carver Racho Angelov. 

The park is more like a well-maintained forest than the creation of a human being. There is a huge variety of coniferous and deciduous trees. In summer, not a day passes without concerts, festivals, and performances. Horse riding is also available. And for the sweet tooth, there are stalls with goodies.

Since the park is located in the center of the city, it is not difficult to get to it. It can be reached from Vasil Levski Stadium metro station.
