Contrary to the urban legend about the Church of Our Saviour in the Danish capital, none of the notes of its architects ever mention that they were not satisfied with the work, much less jumped from a church spire because of it. Both great masters died peacefully in their beds, as evidenced by the records of the Copenhagen city archive. Nevertheless, the ancient legend is passed down through generations and is told in every tour of one of Copenhagen's main shrines.

The Baroque Church of Our Saviour was built at the end of the 17th century by the first royal architect of Denmark, Lambert van Haven. It took him more than 14 years to build a delightful monument of sacred architecture. But even then the project was not fully completed: there was no spire on the tower, and the interior was decorated only with a modest temporary altar. Only almost a hundred years later, with the help of the new architect Lauritz de Thurah, the beautiful church was crowned with a sharp spire. On the occasion of this event, King Christian VII of Denmark climbed the church tower himself.

At the same time, the church was adorned with a magnificent altar, created by the famous Swedish architect Nicodemus Tessin the Younger. The image of the Garden of Gethsemane, where an angel comforts Christ, is recognized as a masterpiece of world medieval art. Both sides of it are decorated with two allegorical figures of one of the main virtues of the ancient Romans, Pietas, and Lady Justice.

Another valuable relic of the Church of Our Saviour is the old organ, created by the Botzen brothers at the end of the 18th century. The huge organ is adorned with fine wood carvings, a bust, and a gilded monogram of King Christian V of Denmark. Just like many centuries ago, travelers can listen to the organ during Sunday masses or organ concerts held in the church several times a year.
