Kerkini Lake

Kerkini Lake is one of the sights in Greece, known by a small number of tourists, coming there. Most of them rest on the beaches and even do not guess that not far from them, closer to the center of the country, is located a beautiful lake, where they can watch the birds, buffalos or storks. 

To the lake you can get by car or public transport going to the villages, surrounding it. The route leads you along the shore of a lake, so there are the arbors and spots for a picnic. Though the lake is not too big, it seems large… The flowers, growing on the shore reach the water, grow there. Then begins the water surface, blue, reflecting sea and sky… It is a paradise place on Earth. 

You can sit in one of the arbors and wait for the birds, coming to the shore. It is very interesting to look at them. Big and little, completely different, even migratory, all of them are there, they drink, catch the fish, and clean the feather. Any zoo does not have anything like this. 

But you also need to be very attentive, because the forests, surrounding the lakes are full of not just birds, but jackals, buffaloes, deer, and wild boars. Of course, wild animals do not come to a man, because he can be very dangerous, but you should still know about their existence. 

Not far from the lake there is a farm with deer. There is a large number of little Bambi, you can stroke them and even feed. The entrance to the farm is free, so I recommend this place for visiting. The deer are very tender and nice, they always try to lick a human hand or face, and wag their little tails like in a cartoon… A cute sight.
