Surprisingly, such a small country as modern-day Montenegro is home to many fabulous natural landscapes, like high green-covered mountains, fantastic carved canyons, fast-flowing rivers, and crystal turquoise lakes, as if specially assembled in one place. Every sight impresses modern travelers with its heavenly beauty. Don't worry if you only have a few days to explore the pearl of the Adriatic. Although all these places are magnificent, there are secret picturesque nooks you absolutely must visit. For example, the Blue Cave on the Lustica Peninsula.
Even the experienced tourists are amazed by the beauty of this mysterious grotto washed by the warm waters of the Bay of Kotor. Its rocky walls and ceiling seem to shine with myriads of small stars, thanks to the reflection of the sun in the azure waters of the bay. The cave has two entrances, but you can get there only by sea. It is located 6 nautical miles away from the resort town of Herceg Novi. You can rent a fishing boat or go on an organized trip on a tourist boat. More than 4 meters high and 15 meters wide, the entrances to the grottoes easily let boats into the cave. However, you can make such a fascinating trip deep into the cave only in clear weather. Even the slightest wind raises veritable waves in this part of the Bay of Kotor. The Blue Cave has an area of 300 square meters, its height reaches 25 meters, and the depth of the water is only 5 meters. So, the water warms up during the summer and remains mild until mid-autumn.
There are also deeper underwater grottoes up to 45 meters high, that attract diving fans from all over Europe to the cave. Besides, the mysterious mazes at this depth are home to several species of fish. Thus, an ordinary dive here turns into an educational underwater adventure.
