The Museum of Military Equipment is one of the main attractions of Krasnodar, a unique open-air place in the park of Zaton district. It is named the "Weapon of Victory".
The park is open to everyone around the clock at any time of the year. Admission is free. The museum consists of the original military equipment of WWII: tanks, shells, anti-aircraft guns, depth charges, the legendary Katyushas, and even an old submarine.
In 1975, the park in Zaton got the name "the Park of the 30th Anniversary of the Victory". Located in a picturesque place on the Kuban River, it constantly attracts citizens who want to combine outdoor walks with the study of history.
The area of the park is 57 hectares. In summer, the park is filled with greenery, flowers, picturesque flower beds, and trees, the shade of which is a nice hiding place from the heat. Besides, the park provides all forms of entertainment, like amusement rides for children, karting, a billiard club.
Visitors can walk along the Health Trail, visit the Memory Alley and the Exhibition Pavilion, have a snack in one of the cafes, and then return to the city via the Bridge of Kisses. The museum's collection includes more than 40 pieces of equipment. The oldest exhibit in the collection dates back to 1938.
In addition to the samples from the Second World War, there is also more "modern" equipment of the 80s, like ballistic missiles and homing torpedoes. The equipment of the Cold War-era consists of armored personnel carriers. Each exhibit is supplemented with a brief description.
The names of the heroes who fought against fascism are immortalized on a large stone stele. As you know, Hitler planned to seize the Kuban lands because of their fertility, provide the troops with food, and then move to the Caucasus.
The Exhibition Hall of Military Glory displays documents, photos, awards, books dedicated to the war. It regularly holds exhibitions, lectures, and excursions for schoolchildren. Every year, on May 9, this place traditionally hosts festive events and celebrations in honor of veterans.
