The original attraction, the Museum "Russian Valenki (felt boots)" in the town of Myshkin, did not appear by chance. For more than a hundred years, the valenki rolling manufactory has been working here. Besides, in 2000, Myshkin first hosted the exhibition and sale "Russian Valenki", dedicated to the solemn Town Day celebration. The exhibition was such a roaring success that the Myshkin residents came up with the idea to create a permanent exhibition of these world-famous Russian shoes. So it was decided to open the unique Museum "Russian Valenki" in the wing of the Chistov estate, adorned with an old porch and carved trims. It became one of the main tourist attractions of the town and a townspeople's favorite place.

It is annually replenished with more and more luxurious exhibits, and the number of curious tourists is growing exponentially. Today, visitors can learn all about the intricacies of making the warmest shoes in the world, get acquainted with the production processes and ancient secrets that circulate from generation to generation. Find out what the great Russian sovereigns and ordinary peasants thought of felt boots, how brides chose their grooms with the help of valenki, and how villagers used them to cure all diseases, from hangovers and colds to headaches and rheumatisms.

And, of course, the museum displays a huge collection of felt boots, including the age-old valenki and the modern ones, richly decorated with embroidery and applique by talented contemporary craftsmen. There are both rude peasant and bright children's models, as well as graceful women's felt boots with heels that deserve special attention. Experienced guides will happily tell visitors the fascinating story of each exhibit. For example, the story of the tsar's valenki with the inscription "to Myshkin from grateful Russia", or the story of the fabulous boot-airplane and the boot-racing car. Besides, the museum exhibits felt decor, like paintings, sculptures, and even a non-woven tapestry made using the felting method.
