The old picturesque town of Kranjska Gora lies close to the border of such popular tourist European countries as Austria and Italy. Surrounded by the majestic Julian Alps, the town quickly became a modern ski tourism center with a resort and an international winter sports school. Every year, it hosts the largest world-class competitions, such as the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup.
Founded in 1948, Kranjska Gora Ski Resort is the oldest in Slovenia. More than 20 kilometers of equipped pistes, 40 kilometers of cross-country skiing trails, and a modern park for snowboard fans Snow Fun annually attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists from all over the world. From beginners in this fantastic winter sport to true professionals and award-winning athletes, everyone will find their own piste for their own level of difficulty at the resort. Besides, there is a separate section about 500 meters long with an almost vertical fall, as well as the longest ski trail "Great Valley" (1237 meters). For those who prefer comfortable sledding, there are sledding hills with fluffy snow and a noisy cheerful company of new friends.
In summer, the ski resort blooms with bright colors of green mountain meadows and flower valleys. Skis and sleds are replaced by mountain bikes and bicycles. There are three special tracks of various levels of difficulty designed for mountain biking. Everyone who wants to join this sport can start at the local school of extreme biking. Bicycles and mountain bikes can be bought or rented right at the entrance to the bike park. And then nothing shall prevent you from going to the mountains, enjoying the warm breath of the wind, the aromas of mountain herbs, and the enchanting singing of local birds.
Just like in winter, there are numerous competitions and professional racings in summer. These events attract bicycle lovers not only from the nearest countries of the Balkan Peninsula but from all over Europe.
