The history of one of the largest amusement parks in Europe and one of the 10 best amusement parks in the world, according to Forbes, appeared long before its official foundation and opening in 1923. Back in the mid-18th century, these lands belonged to a wealthy resident of Gothenburg, the owner of several old factories, Johan Anders Lamberg, and his beautiful wife Elisabeth. Hence the name of the park, "Liseberg", which means "Lisa's Mountain" in Swedish. Back then, it was just a huge Liseberg estate with a charming garden. At the beginning of the 20th century, the state bought these lands and initiated the grand construction of a modern amusement park, which took about 15 years.
With an area of more than 25 thousand square meters, the park comprises 35 unique attractions, including the popular ride "Liseberg Tower". It rises to a height of 125 meters, which is breathtaking even for adults. However, be sure to get the guts to take a ride because the fantastic view you will see is not comparable to any other observation deck in the city. And of course, the famous park also has roller coasters. By the way, they were twice recognized as the best wooden roller coasters in the world, in 2003 and 2005. The attraction named "Kanonen" is also exciting. At an angle of 70 degrees, the car lifts passengers to a height of 24 meters, where it freezes and then rushes down with a roar at an incredible speed. Adrenaline runs high! The attractions "Fairytale Castle" and "Gasten Ghost Hotel" appeal to young guests of the park, although it seems that adults like them no less than children.
The real fun begins in the evening, as soon as it gets dark: the sounds of foot-tapping music are everywhere and the dance floors are working. The performances of world-famous stars are rather common in the park. Once, the park hosted such famous artists and bands as Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, The Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin.
