The heritage, artistic and cultural life of an area can attract tourists and create better quality of life for those who live there.
An Italian student smashed a Greek sculpture at Milan’s Academy of Fine Arts of Brera after he hopped on its lap in order to capture that perfect selfie.
Every year on December 23, the Mexican state of Oaxaca presents the most impressive display of carved vegetables in the world.
Not far from Birmingham there is a very unusual if you consider it as a tourist attraction, object. Sarehole Mill. It is located on the Cole River.
The mill appeared on this site just over 400 years ago. But almost nothing remains of the old building. A structure of old red brick, with a tiled roof, chimneys, and towers, is also a mill, but it was built in the 17th century.
At first, the mill served science. It was rented by a local scientist. He used it for experiments and produced sheet metal, which was used in the production of buttons.
For a long time, the mill was in a very poor condition. No one did it. The building was falling apart. But a few decades ago, the old mill was restored and turned into a picturesque museum, a branch of the Sarehole mill art gallery.
However, the mill still works and grinds wheat. There are two water wheels, which, despite their age, do an excellent job.
It's very quiet and nice near the Sarehole mill. It is picturesque there: the mill is located in a small bay of the river Cole and is surrounded by greenery. The old red brick building is reflected in the smooth surface of the bay. The smell of fresh bread is in the air.
This is not a special effect, the bread is real! It is baked there, in an old bakery. It was restored just a few months ago. Soft, fresh, flavorful bread, straight from an old oven! The bread oven has been there since the middle of the 19th century. Its peculiarity is that it can hold 60 loaves at once. However, it is only used on special days.
Visitors are invited to enjoy not only delicious and fresh bread but also to drink tea with pastries in a modern bakery. It was built very recently, next to the old one.
