The tree that once fell from one bank to another led humanity to the creation of the oldest and most functional structure on Earth – the bridge. It is hard to imagine another invention that made the life of a modern man so much easier, united cities and countries, nations and peoples, and later became the main attraction and even artwork: stone and metal, arched and hanging, spacious and miniature.

There are whole ratings of unique bridges in the world. One of them is the famous Peace Bridge, built in 2012 in the Canadian city of Calgary. Along with such beauties of modern architecture as the Millennium Bridge in London and the Hovenring in the Netherlands, the legendary Canadian Peace Bridge ranks among the most colorful bridges on the planet made only for pedestrians and cyclists.

The unique structure was designed by the famous Spanish architect and sculptor, author of the most incredible futuristic projects in the world, Santiago Calatrava. Its construction lasted two years, after which the colorful pictures of the Peace Bridge adorned the covers of reputable international publications on architecture and design. More than 130 meters long and 8 meters wide, the steel structure of the pedestrian bridge, thrown over the Bow River, looks like a giant fiery red DNA spiral. The bridge makes a strong impression in the dark time when hundreds of modern lights are on. After the upper openings of the bridge have been closed with strong glass plates, no precipitation is dangerous for it. Grateful citizens of Calgary can escape from the bustling metropolis center to quiet cozy Prince Island in any weather and season. Visitors also appreciated the colorful bridge by turning it into the most visited place in Calgary and a fashionable location for photoshoots. What can attract more attention than the glossy red rhombuses of the bridge against the backdrop of a flowing river and blooming greenery?
