The ancient city of Pakime

It is always interesting how people lived for 50 or 100 years, or several centuries before. What they ate, how they constructed and decorated their residences. In Mexico, you can go back in time and walk through the ruins of the ancient city of Paquime.

Here, among these high clay walls, it seems that you are a stone maze. Above, it is a blue sky, and around - walls protecting from natural disasters and enemies of locals. The roofs have not been preserved, because the village was destroyed by fire in 1340. Thatched roofs were burnt, while clay ones became only solid to preserve the heritage of ancient peoples.

The ruins of Paquime are everything left from a large village. It was growing and developing from X to XIV centuries. In 1340, the inhabitants had a big fire destroying all the houses. Then Spaniards came.

In Paquime, you can see the remains of the basement. Five-story houses with several apartments, furnaces for heating the dwelling are located here. You can also see how the locals slept because the niches with beds were preserved.

We know almost nothing about the inhabitants of this settlement. Scientists do not know their name and language, which nationality they had, when, and where they came from. But walking through the ruins, you can see that the villagers were breeding macaws and loved to play catch. You look at the items decorated with geometric figures and imagine how they were created. And you imagine pictures of people doing crafts.

Though scientists do not know who lived in Paquime, you can learn about the culture of the Mexican ancient peoples.
