There are several museums on the territory of the United States of America dedicated to aviation. Arizona Air Force Memorial Museum is the most unusual one. Here you can see a large number of old aircraft that functioned many years ago.
The museum was opened in 1977. That time, there were only a few aircraft. All of them were offered to indifferent Americans who wanted to open the museum. The collection was enlarging, and now there are many planes participated in various military conflicts.
Amazingly, you can enter any plane, sit on the pilot’s seat, and even put on headphones. You are not recommended to press buttons because you can break something. The machine is still in working condition, and all planes may regularly fly.
The museum shows B-17 and B-25 bombers, these are legendary aircraft of the Second World War. B-17 is the first serialized American full-metal four-engine bomber. It was designed in 1934 to the coastal bomber contest. It was called “Flying Fortress”. It was a unique aircraft that could return to base and successfully land even with serious damage. A fuselage was improved and redone 8 times after the launch of the first plane to the sky. Another feature of it is a high-precision bomb on board.
During the Second World War, the British were the first people using B-17. The USA gave them many aircraft before the troop movement. In 1944, the number of B-17 was reached four and a half thousand planes around the world. 650 195 tons of bombs were dropped at that time. It was the most used aircraft. Only a third of B-17 crashed in all battles of the Second World War.
