Eastern State Penitentiary

It is the most famous and expensive prison in the world. Some famous criminals like the American gangster Al Capone, bank robber Willie Sutton and killer James Bruno, nicknamed "Big Joe" were keeping there. It was a model for many prisons from the opening day in 1829.

Eastern State Penitentiary was designed by John Haviland, a famous English architect, in the 19th century. It was open until 1971.
