You come to one of the largest botanical gardens in Brazil, sit on a bench, enjoy the greenery, and the aroma of exotic plants. When you suddenly notice something strange in the distance. You come closer and see that these are people doing somersaults. But they are made of metal. And next to them, there is a tablet with the name of the sculpture and the author. You turn around and marvel at the reflection of a white building of unusual shape in a mirror-blue pond.
There are a lot of such sculptures in the Inhotim because it is the world's largest open-air contemporary art museum. The museum's collection is huge. There, the works of contemporary artists are lost in the exotic forest of Brazil. So it takes at least two days to get to know each of them.
This place is worth a visit, even if you are not a fan of modern art or do not understand it. The expositions are impressive: they make you think and experience unusual emotions. For example, to feel some works of art, you need to take off your shoes and perceive them with your whole body. This is the case in the red room, where strange vibrations run through the floor.
The museum constantly has 23 exhibitions. Some of them remain year-round, while others are being replaced. It has been working since 2006. And the number of artists and tourists is growing every year.
Bold, extravagant, unforgettable... the Inhotim will amaze everyone. Some sculptures are so strange that you need to spend a lot of time to understand the author’s idea. There are tablets with the name, description, and name of the author to help visitors.
Some of the exhibits are so beautiful that you can't take your eyes off them. They fascinate and go deep into your soul. Some of the exhibits alienate by their authenticity and realism. But this is the essence of modern art.
And, of course, the Inhotim is a huge and beautiful garden. If modern art does not impress you, then you certainly will not pass by exotic plants.
