One of the most beautiful and notable buildings in the city is the famous São Paulo See Metropolitan Cathedral.

Its construction, which began in 1913, had several difficulties: funding, political protests, wars. All this delayed the construction of a beautiful building in the neo-Gothic style. Surprisingly, the facade of the temple is made in one style, and the dome – in another: this is a tribute to the Renaissance style. And the dome is a smaller copy of the dome of the famous Florence Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore.

The first parishioners began to come to the still-unfinished temple. The official opening took place almost 40 years after the laying of the foundation stone - in 1954. Today, the temple is the center of gravity for residents and tourists. The São Paulo See Metropolitan Cathedral is the heart of Sao Paulo. It is located on a square framed by Imperial palm trees, which create an unusual and memorable appearance of this place.

The church is beautiful not only outside, but also inside. There are beautiful mosaics, real works of art, and interesting lighting. Together with natural light, it makes the temple space magical.

The temple contains a large number of unique prints and small sculptures. Surprisingly, the walls of the cathedral are also decorated with natural motifs: flowers, coffee, and animals.

The Cathedral of São Paulo houses the largest organ in Latin America. It was created specifically for this temple by Italian craftsmen.

The crypt deserves special attention. There are two religious sculptures made of Carrara marble and a unique coin from the time of Jesus Christ. Besides, one of the five reproductions of the shroud and a crown of thorns are exhibited there.

Thus, the Cathedral of São Paulo is both a functioning temple (one of the largest in the country) and a fascinating museum where you can learn the religious history of Brazil and see rare things related to Christianity.
