There is an unusual Vale Museum in sunny Vitoria. Railway lovers will definitely appreciate it. It is located at the former Pedro Nolasco railway station, on the shores of Vitoria Bay, in a typical industrial and port area.

The building of the museum was built in 1927. And Pedro Nolasco station was organized there in 1935. The building is an example of eclectic architectural features, without decorative excesses on the facades or inside.

The museum was opened on October 15, 1998. It has documents and exhibits reflecting more than a century of railway development between Vitoria and Minas. This is where the so-called Memory Centre is located. It contains about 22,000 items related to the operation of the only daily passenger long-distance train in Brazil. There, you can make a real trip through time by watching movies, photos, and historical texts on the Vale railway line.

However, this is not its only function! For example, there is an exhibition space where famous artists and young talents demonstrate their works: more than 50 Brazilian and foreign artists were exhibited here. The collection of modern art (books, catalogs, magazines) was created in 2006 and is available to students, scholars, and the general public.

The Vale Museum is very popular and is an important point on the cultural map of Brazil. During its existence, the museum has been visited by more than 2 million people. One of the fields of the museum's work is education. More than 400 thousand young people from Vitoria and other municipalities studied there. The museum hosts educational events and seminars created by invited art teachers, and more recently by a team of educational programs taught by interns. Besides, since 2005, the Vale Museum has provided an opportunity for young people aged 14 to 18 from low-income families to participate in events related to the organization of exhibitions of contemporary art. This allows them to learn about this work from the inside.
