Go on an exciting journey to Bhutan to find peace and become happy. This is not another bright slogan of the travel agencies. This is the current law of the state where the right to happiness is regulated by the constitution and the question “Are you happy?” is the necessary question during the population census. As a rule, all the locals of this fantastic country really consider themselves happy and are ready to share their happiness and joy with all the visitors to their fairy-tale kingdom. For this purpose, they created one of the most original authentic open-air museums with the simple name “Simply Bhutan” located in the heart of the capital of Thimphu.
The interactive museum “Simply Bhutan” provides visitors with a unique opportunity not only to learn about the history and culture of this small Buddhist Kingdom but also to become a part of an amazing people, even though for only a few hours.
All tourists are met by unusual guides dressed in traditional costumes and colorful masks. Everyone can also try on their favorite national costume, and experienced guides will tell the tourists about its history. There you can get acquainted with ancient Bhutanese architecture, see a traditional house made out of old wood with old ruined houses window and door frames. You can also learn a couple of folk songs that women sing during the construction of their beautiful houses. In addition, there is an opportunity to try your hand at real archery or at playing khuru, a Bhutanese version of darts, with locals, or to go to craft workshops, to learn how to weave or make rice wine.
Moreover, there is a small collection of ancient Bhutanese artifacts and a cozy traditional restaurant where national cuisine dishes are served. Among such dishes, there are Hemadatsi, the popular spicy dish with cheese and chili, and Jasha Maru with chicken and vegetables. Do not forget to try authentic Tibetan Butter tea with salt and yak butter.
